The ADVANCED bus =p

Generally, there are 2 types of buses in Taiwan. The first one is the long-distance bus, which they call KE YUN (客运) in mandarin. The bus resembles Transnational, KKKL etc. in Malaysia. We took KE YUN from Taipei to Taichung, and switch to another KE YUN from Taichung to Tainan.

The prices are NT240 (Taipei to Taichung) + NT150 (Taichung to Tainan) = NT 390

You can always choose Train or High-speed Rail (GaoTie, 高铁). However, you need to take a bus to the stations because both the stations are not near to the airport. The High-speed Rail is fast as it will only take one and a half hour to travel from Taipei to Tainan. However, the ticket is 3 times more expensive than the bus ticket. It costs over NT1000!!!!

The 2nd type of buses is local or regional bus, which they call GONG CHE (公车). It`s only limited to certain area. It resembles our RapidKL or Metrobus.

Nearly forgotten!! When you buy the bus ticket, you might need to wait for another one or two hours as the most recent time already sold out. However, the special thing about Taiwan is, there is an alternative way to it. There is a machine called Number Machine (HAO MA JI, 号码机).

You draw a number from the machine and wait for them to call for the number!! They explained to us that the bus might have empty seat.,so we can immediately fill up the space if there were. However, the disadvantage is you cannot leave the place while waiting.


For example, when we reach Taichung ard 8.30, the most recent time which was available, was 10.20am. The number we drew was 40 smtg. However, we got the place already on 2nd round. We only waited half an hour and departed from Taichung to Tainan ard 9.10am.


We saved a lot of time bcoz of the machine!!!^^
